Abstract

To test the effectiveness of audiovisual Nursing information with videotape, nonmedical professional 97 women were studied with one group prepost quasiexperimental research design in Seoul.
The subjects were selected from April 6 to May 3, 1994, through questionnaire developed by the researcher.
A 20 minutes¢¥ dubbed ¢¥A woman¢¥s guide to Breast self examination¢¥ by Nurse practioner Creation was used for this study, before and after showing video tape, 15 knowledge scale and 17 attitude scale were checked.
Hypotheses and Data were analyzed in spss /pc+ program using paired ttest, MANOVA, Factor Analysis, the following results are obtained;
1. The knowledge score after having information was higher than before, different significantly. (t= -18.42, P=.000)
2. The Attitude after having information was changed to more positively, different significantly. (t=7.88, P=.000)
3. There were significant interaction effect between knowledge and marital status, religion, job and experience on artificial abortion, these may deter knowlege level. (F=4.55, P=.035 ; F=4.22, P=.043 ; F=5.37, P=.006 ; F=4.86, P=0.30)
4. To specify change of attitude, 6 factor were categorized and among them negative attitude toward seriousness, procedure and understanding of Breast ca. and B. S. E. were changed to positively, attitude toward benefit and compliance were changed to more desirable status. Other 2 factors were not different significantly. (t=4.19, P=.000 ; t=5.83, P=.000 ; t=3.63, P=.000 ; t=3.82, P=.000)
In summary, The study results showed that information with video tape for B. S. E was effective to enhance the level of knowledge and attitude through supporting hypotheses. therefore, this may reduce uncertainty, improve confidence, early detection and minimize Breast ca. mortality.
